For many decades EKW’s Research & Development Program has set trends on a global level and given direction to introducing developmental stages and new generations of fireproof materials.  We provide our customers with technologically efficient and economical materials.

“The fascination with ceramic materials, the process of understanding the requirements thereof, and the development of solutions” – these cornerstones constitute the philosophy of as well as the stimulus to our qualified team of long-term experienced geoscientists, engineering specialists, and technicians.  Based upon a principal and consistent development of basic concepts, we especially focus on market requirements and our customers’ requests in order to meet both in the best way possible.  Ultimately, our specialists identify with the problems and challenges provided by the various industrial sectors of iron and non-iron metal casting, iron and steel making as well as cement manufacturing.

The Central Research and Development Department with its various laboratory units, continuously kept in state-of-the-art condition, constitutes the proverbial focus of our company.  The scope of functions ranges from secured access and specific qualification of natural and synthetic raw materials to the design, function, and properties of fireproof ceramics to technological solutions for the varying material groups.  Additionally, within the scope of a progressive development strategy, close collaboration with internationally renowned universities and institutions has been established with regard to research projects.
